It all boils down to energy!
I believe in being a good steward to this beautiful earth. I am a non-conventionalist who believes that "status quo" is not necessarily a good thing. Let's get creative about solutions...together!
I recently became one of five certified members of Greener Photography in North Carolina. I am also one of only two photographers in Western North Carolina featured in The Green Bride Guide.

Environmental Policy Statement:
I hold the belief that big change can come about through an
individual’s committment to personal action. I believe that
“conventional” practices often are not “good”or “smart” ones,
and that ignorance about important issues is dangerous both to
present day humanity and to future generations.
I am committed to examining the ways in which Jesse Kitt
Photography (and photographer) impact the environment
and to continually integrating practices into all aspects of my
professional and personal decisions that demonstrate my
commitment to personal accountability and Action.
Here are some of the ways that I am working towards reducing
my environmental impact:
ENERGY
~I track my electric gas energy expenditures though monitering
my elecrtic bill. I own and will be installing a TED
(The Energy Devise) for use as a home monitering meter.
~I work from a home office thereby minimizing energy used to
heat/cool/power a seperate studio space.
~For cooling the thermostat is set to 78 degrees or higher.
For heating the thermostant is set to 68 degrees or lower.
~I offset 8.3% of my carbon footprint by purchasing blocks of
renwable energy credits through NC Green Power.
~I plan meetings close to home and consolidate errands to
minimize the environmental impact of driving.
~My computer is immediately set to "sleep" mode when not in use.
All electronic devises are turned off and unplugged when not in use.
~ I utilize only CFL energy efficient light bulbs and make a
consciencious effort not to use them during daylight hours.
~I shoot within a 50 mile radius more than 80% of the time.
Waste Reduction:
~My shipping supplies are made of either reused or recycled
materials.. (reuse first-then recycle)
~I am %90 paper free When printing is necessary, I utilize
double-sided printing and only print on recycled paper.
All ink cartridges are recycled.
~I utilize rechargable batteries and pay to recycle any
batteries that are not rechargable
~I minimize the need for printed studio samples and marketing
materials through the use of online marketing and
communication as well as utilizing slideshows, and online books
and portfolio’s.
~I send and recieve more than 60% of my bills, statements,
invoices, payments and receipts electronically.
~I compost all food waste.
Community:
~I support local businesses first.
~I always ask for environmentally friendly options when
I choose goods and services.
~I have partnered with a local book-maker and artist to create
an environmentally sensitive line of custom albums (which will
also be printed locally.)
~I support local farmers and donate my photography services
to help promote their family farms.
~I support and sighn up for a CSA annually
~I donate my photograohy services to local non profits and
to the families of active military troops.
GOALS:
~Purchase a fuel efficient vehicle.
~ Harness energy through the onsite creation of wind,
solar, or solar thermal power.
~Continue to learn and grow and to lead by example.
